Strange are the ways of the USMLE

Latest news for those attempting the USMLE examination in the near future:

Bothered by the guy next to you, who finished his block too quick, took a nap and started snoring? Well all your worries are over! Cause the USMLE has decided, with immediate effect, that all candidates appearing for Step 1, Step 2 CK or Step 3 exams are allowed to bring a set of 'soft foam earplugs' to the centre! If you think I'm kidding, have a look.

What I'm surprised about is the fact that they're not allowed in Step 2 CS! So we actually have to auscultate all the cases? :D

As long as someone actually benefits from this minute perk.. I guess I have no qualms. I'd rather appeal for being allowed to carry a snack, a bottle of water or scheduled time slots for attending to the call of nature!

  1. I'm enjoying reading your blog. Good luck on the USMLE... I found part one to be the worst but I was a history major and not ever a great hard science guy... Good thing I'm just a car-crash doc.

  2. Thanks for your wishes! And I'd kill to be a 'car-crash' doc just like yourself.. I think the ER is too important an aspect of the hospital to be taken lightly. Its unfortunate that the people using your services don't feel the same way, and the number of litigations in this department is a shame.
